Body:

Calling all YA fans: Join Kate Scelsa and Mariko Tamaki as they chat about Scelsa’s new book Fans of the Impossible Life. It’s a story about a girl named Mira and her gay best friend Sebby, who craft a world of magic rituals, secret road trips, and impossible quests to help them escape their increasingly complicated lives. But when the two friends start at a new school and meet a painfully shy art nerd named Jeremy, their world begins to expand to reveal the more broken parts of themselves.

Kate Scelsa grew up in New Jersey, went to school at Sarah Lawrence College, and now lives in Brooklyn with her wife and two black cats. She spent most of 2004-2012 traveling the world performing in an eight hour long show called "Gatz" that uses the entire text of "The Great Gatsby." Current interests include: angsty singing ladies, interior revolutions, and exterior adornments. Also - nostalgia as an art form. And - spiritual conspiracy theories.

Mariko Tamaki is a Canadian writer. Works include the comics This One Summer and Skim with Jillian Tamaki, Emiko Superstar with Steve Rolston, and the YA novel (You) Set Me on Fire. Her film "Happy 16th Birthday, Kevin" is currently touring with Toronto's Inside/Out Festival.
