Carolina De Robertis / The Gods of Tango [Paperback Release Party!]
Join us for a swanky party with Carolina De Robertis
We’re celebrating the paperback release of The Gods of Tango, an unflinching story about Leda, a young woman in Buenos Aires in 1913 who must disguise herself as a man so she can play violin to survive. Living as Dante, Leda discovers hidden compartments within herself, and a whole world inside tango. Punctuated by sex, grief, longing, the ever-present danger of being found out, and, of course, tango, Leda’s journey to build a life from the scraps of Argentina is not to be missed.
Join us for the paperback release party with cheese from Garden Variety Cheese, a member of the California Artisan Cheese Guild. Garden Variety Cheese is a small farmstead cheese business based in Northern Monterey County on 40 acre Monkeyflower Ranch. Since 2009, they have been commercially milking and producing cheese from sheep raised on fresh pasture, alfalfa hay and organic brewer’s grain from Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing and organic corn from Modesto Milling. The product is a lovely, rich sweet milk that makes fabulous cheese and yogurt. Check out their open house events to visit the farm and their Adopt-A-Ewe sponsorship project.
CAROLINA DE ROBERTIS was raised in England, Switzerland, and California by Uruguayan parents. She is the author of two previous novels, Perla and The Invisible Mountain (a Best Book of 2009 according to the San Francisco Chronicle, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Booklist), the recipient of Italy’s Rhegium Julii Prize, and a 2012 fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. She has spent the past year living in Uruguay, but her permanent home is in Oakland, CA.
