HALF THE SKY: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn   In honor of Women's History Month in March, The Booksmith has teamed up with the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network to co-host a book club event discussing Kristof and WuDunn's recent book Half the Sky.  Whether you've read the book, are an activist for female empowerment, or just want to learn more about an awakening topic, join nonprofit professionals and global activists and thinkers for this provocative evening.  Refreshments to follow.  YNPN’s guest speakers this evening will be Heather Murphy, who currently works for the Women in Technology Program with the Institute of International Education where she manages the program in six countries in the Middle East and North Africa providing oversight of in-country staff and partners, trainings and project implementation; and Deborah Goldberg, who currently works as Development Associate at International Development Exchange, a nonprofit grantmaking organization that promotes sustainable solutions to poverty in six countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America focused on women's empowerment, building local economies and care for the environment.
